Jurying for Admission

The Art Guild of the Kennebunks was established in 1980 by a gathering of local professional artists working and exhibiting in the area. Its purpose is to support and encourage each other as artists, to form a base from which to work with other organizations in the community and also to further the appreciation of fine art through group exhibitions, demonstrations and discussions.

All applications must be submitted in advance and there will be no applications accepted on a walk-in basis. Applicants must not be on the premises at the time of jurying.

Jurying for artist membership is by an anonymous jury. Work must be original, recent (within the last two years) and done outside of a workshop or class. Work must be professionally presented There will be no critiquing of applicants’ work.

Jurying for admission takes place in the spring of each year. Artists are asked to submit five (5) pieces in one medium that best represent them as an artist. Artists may choose to submit their work physically or digitally.

Press releases giving the specifics for any given year are published locally throughout the winter.

In view of the world–wide Corona Virus pandemic The Art Guild of the Kennebunks (AGK) is postponing its spring 2021 jury date until September 2021. Specific information will be forthcoming throughout spring and summer.

At that time artists will be asked to submit 5 original, recent pieces, all in the same medium, that were not done in a class or workshop. The work should be professionally presented. Judges look for consistency rather than diversity.
